iCube was appointed by the City of London and Transport for London to
undertake a strategic planning study examining the impact of London
Plan growth on the City's rail system and the priorities for
allocating S106 receipts for mitigating impacts over the coming
decade.
The work developed a database of approved, submitted and proposed
office schemes and assessed the likely travel demands arising from
them and the distribution of these journeys on the rail system.
Further demands arising from developments outside of the City were
overlaid on the rail system.
Based on this picture of how the rail demands might develop in the
coming decade or so, the study identified the priorities for
improvements to enable the system to cope with demand. A key output
of the study was an ability to examine the likely dispersal of
development demands across the network and to assess the contribution
of individual development flows on different parts of the rail system
serving the City.
