The Vauxhall Cross, Nine Elms and Battersea area is identified by the
GLA as an Opportunity Area for intensive future development. GLA/TfL
have commissioned consultants to review in detail the transport
implications of this development on the public and private transport
systems.
The area is currently predominantly industrial in nature and effected
by poor local accessibility due to the presence of the river,
extensive rail infrastructure and large, impermeable sites such as New
Covent Garden Market.
Ballymore is a significant land-owner in the area and employed iCube
to shadow the transport studies; to liaise with GLA/TfL and their
consultants; review material produce through the study process; and,
provide guidance on strategy and mitigation options.
iCube is continuing to provide strategic planning advice with regard
to the identification of infrastructure requirements and the
establishment of a tariff to fund improvements to the area.
